If you or your relative has a care grade (Pflegegrad 1–5), the care fund (Pflegekasse) of the statutory care insurance can subsidise the move as a measure to improve the living environment under § 40 (4) SGB XI – for example when the new home is barrier-free, on the ground floor, has a lift or is closer to the people who provide the care.

We are a removals company, not a care or legal advisor – but we write the quote so that a formality does not hold up your application, and we are happy to speak to the fund with you.

Does the care fund really pay for a senior move?
It can. If you or your relative has a care grade (Pflegegrad 1–5), the care fund of the statutory care insurance can subsidise the move as a measure to improve the individual living environment under § 40 (4) SGB XI – with up to €4,180 per measure. The condition is that the new home makes the care possible, easier or restores independence – for example because it is barrier-free, on the ground floor or has a lift. The care fund decides on each case individually.
Which care grade do I need?
A care grade from 1 to 5 is sufficient in principle – there is no requirement for a higher grade. What matters to the care fund is not the number itself but the reason: the move has to improve the living situation in a way that helps with the care. If no care grade has been assigned yet, it is worth applying for one first.
Do you bill the care fund directly?
Yes. Once the subsidy has been approved in writing, we can invoice the care fund directly – so you do not have to pay the amount yourself and wait for a reimbursement. Just tell us the fund and the reference number from the approval.
When do I have to apply for the subsidy?
Contact your care insurer before booking or incurring costs. Ask which documents and approval it requires. We prepare the quote for the agreed removal; the insurer decides funding.
What if two people needing care live in the same household?
Then the subsidy can be granted more than once. If several people entitled to care benefits live together, the amounts are combined for a shared measure – for two people up to €8,000 and for up to four people a maximum of €16,000 in total.
What is included in a senior move with Junker?
As much or as little as you want: the moving team and the truck, packing and unpacking your belongings, dismantling and rebuilding the furniture, and setting up the new home so the first evening already works – bed made, lamps hung, television connected. On request also moving materials, a no-parking zone, a furniture lift and the clearance of the old flat. Everything is listed separately in the quote so the care fund can approve each item.
Can you clear out and dispose of what stays behind?
Yes. Handing the old flat back on time is part of the job. We take care of the clearance and the responsible disposal of bulky waste, and we can store anything you are not ready to part with yet.
What if the move is into assisted living or a care home?
We do that regularly. Often only a room’s worth of furniture comes along and the rest of the flat has to be cleared. We coordinate the date with the home, move what fits into the new room and set it up, and take care of everything that stays behind.
Can relatives organise the move from another city?
Yes – and it is very common. We can do the survey by video, put everything in writing, and keep one contact person for the whole family. Sons and daughters are welcome to handle the calls and the paperwork on behalf of their parents.
